Whenever I make Bacon Honey Butter, it always reminds me of Luke from the Outdoor Boys YouTube channel.

If you’ve never seen Luke’s content – it’s simply amazing. He’s a former lawyer that’s turned into an outdoor survival expert and he documents his outdoor adventures of hiking and camping in the cold Alaskan wilderness, sometimes with his 3 boys.

In many of his videos, he’s seen traveling with a jar of honey butter – which he frequently uses on his campfire toasted bread. And the way he eats his bread with the butter, makes it seem like this is the most delicious thing ever created!

I don’t know exactly what Luke puts in his honey butter (it’s likely just honey and butter), but in my mind, it’s gotta have a warm, rich, and luxurious taste – from just watching him immensely enjoy his meal.

So in this recipe, I’m going to manifest what I think would be the best version of this heavenly spread – and imagine taking it on an arctic camping trip, just like Luke on his YouTube channel!

What Is Bacon Honey Butter?

This recipe is an adaptation of my classic Whipped Honey Butter recipe.

Whipped Honey Butter is literally pure honey that is whipped with a mixer to incorporate air within the crystalline structure of the honey – combined with melted butter.

It becomes very frothy and airy – making it an incredibly spreadable and luxurious treat. It’s like an elegant, creamier version of raw honey.

And in this recipe, I take that Whipped Honey Butter and I add some bacon umami and other ingredients to it, to make it the perfect spread for any occasion, even an Outdoor Boys adventure!

The Equipment Needed

How To Make Bacon Honey Butter

Start out with my Whipped Honey Butter recipe.

Pro Tip: If you’re starting from scratch, pour 1 lbs of raw honey & half a stick of melted butter (4 tablespoons) into a stand mixer bowl. Then with the whisk attachment on your mixer, whip on medium speed for about 20 minutes or until the honey reaches a fluffy, whipped consistency.

Afterwards, to your whipped honey, add in your maple syrup, diced bacon & warm bacon fat that’s been rendered down. The bacon oil should be warm enough to pour into the whipped honey mixture and easily incorporate, but not scalding hot.

Next, turn on your mixer for about 5-8 minutes, to whip the honey and blend in the bacon fat.

And that’s it! You’ve now created an amazing mixture that smells fantastic and tastes even better!
