In a large bowl, grate 1/2 of your onion, as finely as you can.
Then, in a separate mixing bowl, add in your ground beef and your egg.
Afterwards, add in your panko bread crumbs, milk, all of the remaining steak patty seasonings and give it all a good mix.
In a large tray, form roughly 5 inch wide Salisbury steak patties, that are approximately 1 inch in thickness.
Take your sauce pan, and on high heat, sear both sides of your steak patties - and then set the patties aside.
Pro Tip: At this stage, you don't need to cook your steaks all the way through - we are just looking to get a good sear on the outside and to form a crust.
